Script Reflection
The
script Jenny and I chose to write was two Adventure Time episodes, though
originally it was only one but we had to extend it due to finishing the plot of
the first episode way before our page count goal. Writing the script was
actually very fun, Adventure Time is one of my favorite shows and it was very
cool to be in the position of the script writer for it.
The actual sitting
down and writing of the script was tough because it is hard to get the thoughts
to flow at first and sitting down and writing for a half hour to an hour of my
already busy day was strenuous to say the least. Learning how to type and write
script was very enjoyable and even fun at times. When we first discussed the
project and we were told it had to be a hundred pages my first though was
“forget this, this lady is crazy”. After writing it all out though I can see
where a hundred pages would be attainable, but not in the timeframe of a
month.
Now after it’s
done, I don’t feel like I wasted time with it, though it wasn’t how I would
have rather spent that time. I really hardly went through the script frenzy
work book, I just did the assignments we were told to do and I honestly don’t
even remember them, so nothing was most or least helpful in that workbook,
though I did like the packets you gave us earlier in the year. I learned about
myself through this project too, I learned that I really don’t mind sitting and
tying, when I can get around to it, for an hour or two. Jenny and I tried our
hardest and made it past our original goal of fifty pages and made it to sixty
eight by the time the deadline came around. I am most proud of the
characterization and humor we put in the script because it was kept consistent
with the humor of the actual characters of Adventure Time. I think that some of
the diction for a few of the characters was off by a little bit and that
probably came from the fact that there was two people writing it and we both
interpret the show at least slightly differently. I would focus most of my time
on my separate writings and my short stories, I feel I could take them a long
way and polish them to much greater stories. Thanks for the fun half-year Mrs.
B, I really enjoyed it.
